In the world of Trout flies the Adams is probably the most popular Dry Fly in History. Comprised of clean elements and tying style, the Adams has been the classic Dry Fly to both fish and emulate at the vise. The two hackle collar of Grizzly and Brown are known as simply, 'Adams Hackle'. This color combination is as universal in it's appeal as the fly itself.

The Adams, like only a few other flies, represents nothing in particular, yet, everything in general. A tried and true Classic in every sense of the word. The following tutorial is an attempt to explain how the Adams is built.
