While the body dubbing for an Adams is usually Muskrat or something very similar, I used a synthetic dubbing . No reason, just had some on the bench. Once you have "spun" the dub on the thread close to the first wrap area, move(slide) the tip of the dubbed thread area up to the hook. Take one wrap and twist the dubbing again like when you first applied it . Repeat this wrap/twist method all the way up to the area just behind the wings. As a practice thing, make yourself dub this body with three different, small applications of dubbing. Do not try and dub the body with one mass of dubbing !!! I can not stress this beginning mistake enough. Take half of what you think will work and divide it in half , you will have twice as much as you need. One package of dubbing will yield dozens, that's dozens of flies. If you are buying the same dubbing often your fly bodies are too big, or else you're a production tyer who should be buying by the pound anyway. |
