Here is the view of the Butt end of the biot. The biot has a few characteristics that need to be touched upon. The biot has a concave/convex shape lengthwise. This view is looking at the convex face (edges curving away from the viewer). The edge that the notch is on is slightly thinner and a bit more transparent than the edge opposite the notch.
