Four good hard turns holds the hackle against the post. If you want more hackle just increase the thread height on the post by adding thread wraps up the hair post.
With this hackling method, the hackle turns will start from the top and proceed "down hill" to the base of the post. So the last and highest wrap of thread on the stem, will be where the first hackle wrap starts as well as lands
