Bind in a prepared hackle ,here I'm showing a hackle applied on "edge" with the dull side facing me and the stem between the posts. A drop of glue here is not out of the question and can be done at this point. The area ahead of the wings should have a bit of thread fill to flatten the hackle landing area..
